Position Summary:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior leader who translates strategy into actionable plans, aligning teams and processes to drive sustainable growth and operational excellence across the organization. This person is a connector—bringing together sales, marketing, and client services—and a systems thinker who thrives on building clarity and accountability. This role is pivotal to ensuring that the internal heartbeat of NextAfter supports our mission to decode what works in digital fundraising and amplify that learning to help nonprofits grow their impact and increasing generosity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned. Assist at NIO Conference annually.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Champion cross-functional alignment by integrating sales, marketing, and client services to help accelerate growth.
- Lead, manage, and hold accountable key operational functions across NextAfter to ensure clarity, ownership, and consistent execution.
- Provide direct leadership to Client Services Operations, focusing on team development, operational efficiency, and client success.
- Serve on the Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the strategic direction of the organization and stewarding the vision and values of NextAfter.
- Build and sustain culture by fostering collaboration, communication, and accountability between departments.
- Design and refine internal systems and processes to reduce friction, increase transparency, and scale effectively.
- Drive unity across all parts of the organization to ensure everyone is rowing in the same direction.
- Oversee execution and follow-through of strategic initiatives, ensuring goals are met and priorities stay aligned.
- Support NextAfter’s flagship NIO Summit annually and other team events that build momentum and connection.
- Be a trusted advisor and operational anchor to the President, helping translate vision into reality with focused and timely execution.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong systems thinker with a bias for action and results.
- Exceptional communicator with the ability to build trust across diverse teams.
- Proven ability to lead leaders and inspire teams toward common goals.
- Highly organized and accountable, with a passion for operational excellence.
- Deep understanding of EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) principles and how to implement them in a growing organization.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in a senior leadership or strategic operations role.
- Experience in digital marketing, fundraising, or client services preferred.
- EOS certification strongly preferred.
Position Type: In-office with hybrid flexibility
Salary Range: $240k-$270k
