How an encouraging nudge affects journal comment rate

Experiment Summary
Timeframe: 08/03/2021 - 08/15/2021
CaringBridge had run an experiment that found that including a small, data-based nudge to comment would increase engagement on their journal pages. However, over multiple site iterations, the nudge language had changed and had been dropped from the experience in certain places.
They decided to re-test the original winning nudge copy against “no nudge” and the replacement copy that had been inserted at some point to see if they could lift overall engagement.
Research Question
We believe that including a nudge to comment for journal page visitors will achieve an increase in journal comments.

Key Learnings
The statistic-based nudge copy produced a valid 6% lift in journal comments—which seems like a small number, but at Compassion's scale, will lead to tens of thousands more comments each month.
