Human Coalition tested how the specificity of a donation page headline impacts donor conversion during its calendar year-end campaign. The donation page served as the central destination for multiple fundraising efforts, including email appeals, paid advertising, and organic website traffic.

The team wanted to understand whether a more tangible articulation of a donor’s impact could drive more gifts. The control headline, “You can give to rescue moms and babies from abortion starting right now,” framed the ask in a broad, mission-oriented way. The treatment headline, “You can be the reason a mom cancels her abortion appointment,” introduced more concrete language—suggesting direct causality between the donor’s action and a specific, emotionally resonant outcome.

The hypothesis was rooted in the belief that donors are more likely to act when they can clearly visualize the consequence of their gift. By testing this variation, the team aimed to answer a core donor motivation question: What makes people feel their gift truly matters?
