Today in the Word is a daily devotional website by Moody Bible Institute.. This website draws in a ton of traffic daily to digest its content.
During FYE, we wanted to see if we could acquire donors through a sticky bar. We have tested into sticky bars in the past so we know it does work for their audience.
For this test, we want to see if adding a donor countdown in the CTA will create more urgency.
Research Question
We believe that adding a donor countdown for the sticky bar will achieve a higher donor conversion rate because the countdown will create a sense of urgency.

This experiment has a required sample size of 160,413 in order to be valid. Unfortunately, the required sample size was not met and a level of confidence above 95% was not met so the experiment results are not valid.
Key Learnings
The key learning from this experiment is that adding a donor countdown to a sticky bar did not result in a higher donor conversion rate. In fact, the treatment group saw a decrease in donations compared to the control group. However, the treatment did see $400 more revenue. An assessment still needs to be done to see whether this treatment lead donor to give more generously, or if there are a couple of outlying larger gifts skewing the data.
